LISCR FC was held to a 1-1 draw in round two of the 2018 Liberia Football Association First Division. Tapha Manneh Boys were seeking their second win of the new campaign but failed to do so after being denied by James Richardson.
After a tough first half in which the two teams failed to score, The Shipping Boys returned stronger in the second half and got the curtain raiser through Armah Vaikainah. Vaikainah got the match first goal in the 61st minute from the penalty spot after Mark Paye was brought down.
However, NPA got the score level five minutes later through former LISCR FC’s attacker, James Richardson. Richardson capitalized on a defensive blunder and got the ball at the back of Ashley Williams.
A golden moment came for The Shipping Boys in 77th minute when Hilton Varney was brought down in the box. Vaikainah miss out the chance of putting LISCR ahead again when he saw his shot denied by the woodwork.
There were no goals in the match again as both teams shared the points.
The point earned against NPA keeps LISCR at the top of Group B with four points from two games. They are tied on points with second place, LPRC Oilers FC.
A search for three points will continue on Sunday, September 2 when LISCR travels away to Nimba United.
