LISCR FC’s center back, Emmanuel Tarpeh believes LISCR FC’s defeat to LPRC Oilers on Sunday, September 16 is a birthday celebration for all the clubs within the country.
LISCR FC 26 league games unbeaten run came to an end on Sunday with a 2-0 defeat to LPRC Oilers in the return leg of the 2018 First Division season. The defeat was LISCR FC’s first league defeat since December 3, 2016 when the 2016-17 First Division began.
The Shipping Boys won the 2016-17 league undefeated in 22 games before extending their run in the 2018 season where they were unbeaten in four games. Their beautiful run came to an end with the 2-0 defeat to LPRC Oilers and Tarpeh believes his side gave their best on the pitch but it wasn’t their day. He describes the defeat to LPRC Oilers as a birthday feast for all the other clubs that wanted to see LISCR FC defeated in the league.
“We played with our hearts. We wanted to win and we played to win. We had some good chances on the pitch but it wasn’t our day. It’s obvious in football. You win, draw or lose. We’ve been very strong in the last 26 games where were unable to be defeated. But today was LPRC Oilers’ day”, Tarpeh told LISCR FC media.
“Today is not just a win for LPRC Oilers but a big birthday celebration for the clubs in the country. We’ve proven to be very strong for them over the years and they all wanted to see us defeated. Finally, they’ve seen it and it’s like a birthday celebration for them”, Tarpeh asserted.
However, Tarpeh believes the team will bounce from the defeat and continue chasing their goals for the 2018 season. “We have games to play. We have goals to archive. We are not frustrated over the result. We will go back to the drawing board and come back stronger to achieve our goals”, he concluded.
LISCR FC will look forward to bouncing from the defeat to LPRC Oilers on Thursday, September 20 when they take on Stages FC in the FA Cup second round.
