LISCR FC head coach, Tapha Manneh told the LISCR FC media that he is not discourage over his side defeat to LPRC Oilers on Sunday, September 16 at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium.
The Gambian tactician stood on the lines as his side 26 league games unbeaten run came to an end with a 2-0 defeat to LPRC Oilers in the return leg of the 2018 First Division season. LISCR FC defeated Oilers 2-1 in the first leg on Friday, September 14 before stumbling to the 2-0 loss in the return leg. The defeat was LISCR FC’s first league defeat since December 3, 2016 when the 2016-17 First Division began.
Tapha Manneh guided the Shipping Boys to an undefeated league title at the end of the 2016-17 season. He won 10 and drew 12 of his games before extending his unbeaten run in the 2018 season where he guided his side to four games without defeat.
His undefeated campaign came to an end by LPRC Oilers, a team that has been one of his toughest opponents since arriving in Liberia. However, he congratulated Oilers for their victory and praised his boys’ performance in the match.
“The boys played and their performances on the pitch weren’t bad. Oilers also played well and congratulations to them for the win. We were just unfortunate not to have a point from the match. At certain point, there were little lack of concentration and patience which caused us some problem. However, that is done and we are doing our best to come back stronger. We have a mission to complete and that’s our focus now”, Tapha Manneh told LISCR FC media.
“He further said that the defeat caused the team to lose three points but come as motivation. He said the defeat was a message to his team to put in more work. It encourages me and the team t work harder because it has happened already. Right now, we can’t do anything about that result. What we have to do is to work on our upcoming games which we have started already” Coach Tapha said.
Tapha Manneh will be hoping to bounce back from the defeat on Thursday, September 20 when LISCR FC takes on Stages FC in the second round of the FA Cup.
