LISCR FC striker, Sam Kollie told LISCR FC media that he felt really excited scoring his first goal for the Shipping Boys.
The striker was on the score-sheet once in the Shipping Boys 2-1 win over NPA Anchors on match day-8 of the 2018 LFA First Division. Kollie scored in the 79th minute to help LISCR FC grab an important 2-1 win at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium.
“I’m one of the happiest men today. I’m happy to score my first goal for LISCR FC and to register my first assist. I’m not happy because of my performance but because I was able to help the team win. We came on the pitch with the mind to and we won. For that I’m excited. It’s an honor to play for this club that has helped many players dream come through. I’m grateful to the technical staffs and team’s administration for giving me the chance to play for this club”, Kollie told LISCR FC media.
Kollie who was making only his second appearance for LISCR FC stormed the match with confidence as he became a hot cake to handle in the opening minutes. He broke through the NPA Anchors’ defense in the 20th minute and found Varney Sando who reached the ball at the back of the net to give LISCR FC the lead.
Not only did Kollie provide the assist for Sando’s goal but played a major role in helping the team go to the break with a goal lead. He returned even stronger with several attempts on goal before adding his name on the score sheet after Varney Sando broke through NPA Anchors’ from the left side before crossing the ball across the goal where Kollie was positioned perfectly to get the put LISCR ahead for the second time. His goal in the 79th minute later turned out to be the match winning goal.
Sam Kollie was signed as a free agent ahead of the 2018 season. After months on the sideline with ankle injury, he made his debut on September 16 against Nimba United. He was a second half substitute in the 3-2 loss to the Mountaineers.
