LISCR FC continue her prepartions for the upcoming CAF Confederation Cup Preliminary Round qualifiers and the 2019 Liberia football season with a friendly match against Grand Bassa County football team which ended with a 1-1 draw in Buchanan on Saturday, November 17.
New boy, Kelvin Kollie was the hero of the day as he scored his first goal for LISCR FC to denied Bassa a win.
The Shipping Boys began the match on high note as they created several scoring chances which were unable to be converted to goals. Efforts from Alloy Brown and Kelvin Kollie were denied by Bassa’s strong defensive work before Derrick Keih out the host ahead. From inside the penalty, Keih closed range shot best Armah Moore who was in goal for LISCR FC. The host help to their narrow lead until the end of the first half, leaving LISCR FC with plenty of work to do in the remaining 45 minutes.
Benjamin Doe, Prince Urey, Markey Morgan were introduced in the second half as LISCR FC’s search for an equalizer continued.
Not deter by the one goal conceded, the Shipping Boys kept pressing for a goal until the 60th minute when Kelvin Kollie long range shot for the score level. Kollie struck from outside the penalty box to get LISCR FC back on track as the search for the second goal continue.
With the scored being level, LISCR FC took control of the match as they mounted pressure for the second. However, they are denied by a stubborn Bassa defense that help to keep the score level until the end of the final whistle.
