LISCR FC 18-year-old goalkeeper, Ashley Williams has promised fans better performance from the team in the return leg of the 2018-19 CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round against USM Bel Abbes.
The shot-stopper played the entire game away at USM Bel Abbes in Algeria as LISCR FC lost 4-0 to the Algerians. LISCR may have lost heavily but Williams whose performance in goal made him USM Bel Abbes’ fans favorite LISCR FC player has said the team will pull out a better performance in the return leg on Wednesday, December 5 at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium.
“We lost badly and it’s appeared difficult for us in the return leg. There are many doubts over our chances to qualify. However, I can assure fans that we will will perform differently on Wednesday. We want to win and we want to qualify. It’s sounds impossible but we remain optimistic”, Williams told LISCR FC Media.
The Shipping Boys face an uphill task of reaching the first round of the 2018-19 CAF Confederation Cup after the 4-0 defeat. Tapha Manneh’s team will need at least a 5-0 win to reach the first qualifying round and Williams believes it’s possible.
“The score we need sounds heavy. Right now, nobody wants to believe it’s possible but we believe it fully. We can win 5-0 or even more. Everybody’s [The Players] feeling bad about the lost in the first leg and we want to prove something strong in the return leg.”
LISCR FC will host USM Bel Abbes in the return leg on Wednesday, December 5 at 2:00 PM in Monrovia at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium.
